This guys comment makes me wonder what it is?

When you get it certified, I think your going to find that you actually caught a "bowfin" or as it's commonly known, a "Dogfish".
I've caught both species here in Minnesota and the head is unmistakable.
Burbot? Bowfin? Who cares as long as it's a record! Good job!

ok.. it's definately a "nice" fish, but it's not as 'amazing' as the photo would lead you to believe. And it is NOT photoshopped.

It is aspect ratio photography. He is holding the fish out and the camera is close to the fish. If you compare his face and his knuckle & half-finger you can see that there is some distance between the fish and his body...

zoom in like this and compare them side by side:

The amazing thing in the foto is'nt the big fish.. but look at those BIG fingers! They're huge! The size of hot-dogs!

still a nice fish tho... however, far from a world record..

Why are we criticizing how big the fish actually is or how hes holding it in relation to his body. Duud got another "PIG" and good for him. I dont really care. If its a record great. I see it and then move on. If Im ever lucky enough to catch a record fish then Ill do the necessary things and such, place it permanently in my memory and move on. The world doesnt stop when this happens. We all continue to fish after the fact.

    just sayin'

yeah...the duuds holding it away from his body in order to make the feesh appear bigger. Whether burbot, bowfin, or unknown species....whether he's not "posed"  right....it's a freekin huge fish! I'd believe it's a record "whatever".

I think fishusa.com needs to sponsor a bus trip to this lake so that we all can get a shot at the fishing there. So many world records from the same guy, in the same lake., Doesnt anyone else fish it? haha

If you read the stories about that lake it is the ideal place to grow big fish. There is an immense amoun of bait fish and food fish in the lake, and the big trip fish were accidentally released from a fish farm about 8 years ago. After seeing how big the fish got the local DFW released and additional 160,000 of the same species of trout. In an article I read those two brothers don't even fish during good weather of during the dayligh hours because there are soo many people trying to follow them around. The one brother said: "we can't even launch a boat in the daytime without having a whole group of followers."
