24V wiring?

What gauge wiring should I use on a 24v trolling motor running the full length of a 16ft boat?  Should I use tinned wire?  Thanks

Tinned- Absolutely. You have got to take in consideration the max amps the circuit may need AND the distance away. Go here http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm and page down to the voltage drop calculator. Plug in your figures and you can see what you need. You want to achieve a voltage drop of less than 1 volt. The lower the better. How much will you be drawing?

id say at least 10ga or even 8ga heavy stuff but the voltage drop is a real issue but the higher volts 24 vs 12 will help but dc needs bigger wire

I would go with 6ga for that distance.  Minnkota 12v motors want you to install a 60 amp inline fuse with them and asks you to wire up with 6ga.  Unless your routing run is tight and you need as small a wire as possible, why not just oversize it a little and know you'll be good to go.  Solder and shrink wrap everything together too.

he can use 6 but heavy use multistrand not a like a 10 strand go 24 strand if you can find it and twist the wires around each other this will help with rf interferance if use make a loop it will act like a mag keep streight
