Sorry fisherlady, I don't check out the conventional fishing forum much at all. Well this can be justified by being a local trout opener thread.

I'll be no where near any of the circus acts going on.   There is way too much time for trout later to do the combat thing.

Opening day is defintely not for me, taking my trout trip at the end of April. I am staying home, and relaxing and watching movies.

Headin to camp with nephew in an hour.  Wife packed all this food while the only thing I put in Tahoe was a cooler of beer and 2 sodas for kid.  Think I will take my time coming back.  Not much pressure, if any, in the back country for trout.  Sounds like some of you guys got it bad!

Same here bings, been scared of clowns since I was a wee child.

I have pretty much hated opening day since I was a kid.  My Dad, who used to work the swing shift, would sleep until about 7(not blaming him at all, he was in perma-zombie mode), and we wouldn't get to the creek until 730, and drive around to all the likely spots only to see people fishing there.  We would then descend upon a hole that had 10 chubs, 1 trout that got lost from the pack, and if we were lucky a couple of suckers.  We would watch up and down the creek as people ripped fish all morning, and we would have 1 fish between us.

When I got older, and started fishing on my own, I would go out extremely early.  Secure a spot that I had scouted a few days before, and wait.  Usually people would start filtering in around 630, and then they would crowd me and whoever I could talk into going with me.  I mean we would catch lots of fish, but it really wasn't that exciting(or fun), with a bunch of hungover reliefers swearing at there 12 kids.

Now that I am an elitist A-hole fly-fisherman, I have no time for opening morning.  I have been fishing for stockies in WV and Pa. since Jan. and will resume in Pa. in later April and May, once the crowds go down a bit.  I will surely take a few trips over to the mountains with my Dad to fish some water we discovered while I was in college, we have a few places that we love to fish.  Hit it up in Mid May after a few in season stockings, and give the fish a chance to spread out a little bit.

Also, I hear there is a monster storm coming.

    Bottom Line, Pike Saturday

Does anyone know of any stocked creeks in the Erie area that have any handicapped access? Otherwise I'm limited to casting from shore at Lake Pleasant or fishing the waterworks ponds on Presque Isle and I really prefer stream fishing when it comes to pellet heads. I'm headed to the waterworks ponds tomorrow cause I'm still on crutches.

Thanks in advance for any help.
