PI - Lake Erie Smallies

Anyone know how the smallie fishing is so far?  I am looking to come up from Columbus, OH to do some fishing in PI, possibly the main lake.

    The post next to yours about covers it. Wish I could tell you more. From what i have seen, not much more to report. If you are coming up to fish for small mouth and you go to the streams, make sure that you are allowed to fish. I think we close them on Friday and reopen them on Saturday for opening day of trout.

    Columbus? What do you know bout the Mad River?

    Personally, I have not fished the Mad River.  I have always heard good things about it though.  Looking for something specific?  I know a couple folks who fish it.  I will see what I can dig up for you.
     
     
    Honestly, not looking to get into the streams.  I am hoping to lay into some nice smallies on the mainlake or in PI.  No desire to hit streams that I really don't know in my boat.  To may bad experiences

    I plan on making an exploratory run on Sunday, wind and waves permitting.  I'll post a report.
