Briggs and Stratton outboard

Has anyone used a Briggs and Stratton 5hp. outboard. I'm thinking of buying one for my 14ft.Starcraft, something for P.I. bay and other small lakes. It's air cooled and comes with a 2 year warranty and Briggs and Stratton engine should be easy to work on if needed. Any feedback would be appreciated, Thanks.

I had one it ran good.  The only things is it sound like a lawn mower.  Other than that I never had a problem with it.

That's the only negitive thing I've heard about them so far is it's a little on the loud side, but I think I can live with that.

They are air cooled, not liquid I believe. They are load and don't have any cover on them to protect carb. Water and Carbs don't mix. My buddy had one as a trolling motor. As soon as he would take a wave it would stall and be a bear to get started again. If you are just wanting to tool around the bay on nice days, not a bad option. Very affordable and will get the job done.

oh, I keep hearing it's on the loud side. but anyone know if it's just lawnmower loud or jackhammer-neighbors calling the cops loud.

Sorry...I meant loud....I would compare them to a pressure washer or lawnmower engine of the same horsepower..
