Chapman Lake

Just a reminder to you Northwest PA fisherpersons: Chapman lake is part of the early season trout stocked waters program, which means the lake is closed to fishing from April 1 until the opening day of trout. A lot of people seem to forget this. Enjoy spring!

Most people don't even follow the "law..." I do and honestly I don't see why April 3rd is open day for SE pa when their no different then SW and imo SW has way better fishing holes that provide more then just trout... I mean Mammoth Dam was producing nice Crappie untill March 31st. And I think in all the eairly stock lakes I fished at I caught 1 trout and the rest were crappie. I honestly don't think the season should close or if it does close it till April 17th (The whole state) and make Trout Catch and Release and heavily patrol and fine the people who break the law. I'm sick of having my nice bass/crappie/pike/muskie area's taken away due to trout regs...

I don't know the thinking behind the regs, I just know 50-60 people try fishing the lake in that 16 days, and a heads up has got to be better than a citation. Chapman lake doesn't have pike, muskie, crappie, and is a marginal warm water fishery. 16 days isn't that long to wait.

Trust me I know what you're saying, i'm not specifically saying Chapman has a marginal warm water fish population but there are others such as Kooser, Laurel Hill, Yough River (sections) the list can go on and on. But I honestly don't think a citation is enough I think they should take their liscence and strip them of their gear and even make it that they can't re-purchase a liscence from any state-wide dealer.
