open water !

Hello,
Just wondering what lakes are open water now and fishable by boat. Mostly looking to launch a canoe/kayak type deal. itching to get out there on the open water. Usually get on top of some crazy panfish actiont his time of year. Then trout. Then stripers!

Anything is apreciated. Tight Lines!

Fished Burden today for the first time.  Water is 80% open in the upper two lakes, don't know about the lower one.  Landed a small pike and had a nice one blow up on a buzz bait but missed it.  How strictly does the town enforce the no launching boats off of  1st dike rd?  Seems like it shouldn't be a big deal for me to put in with my kayak there.

Ok good.  I didn't know if that meant all boats or not, but I risked it anyways haha.

Nice! Went out and hit the middle and big burden today. Plenty of gills, perch, crappie.
Was throwing a topwater all morning in likely pike spots but nothing. As we motored around a few coves noticed a TON of dead fish on the bottom. Looks like it was a big die-off this year. A buzzbait, eh?

yeah this was my first trip out anywhere since Ive lived in Albany was glad to not get skunked.  Got the hammerhandle on a spoon right after I launched and thought it was gonna be on fire all day, but that wasn't the case.  Threw the box at them and finally got a strike on a yellow buzzbait.

I've been fishing there for a few years and still got skunked on pike today. kudos to you.
Was gonna troll a daredevil for a while but the fast gill bite caught my attention instead. Too many fish, so little time.

Saw pickerel, possibly small pike, bass, and gills. If we'd actually looked around we deffinately could've seen a ton more. Just noticed it in a few of the shallow coves.

How'd you do at Burden?  I was gonna try to make it there one day this weekend, but I hit Kinderhook both days.  Caught countless stockies and a good buzz with the spinning rod on Saturday but nothing over 10 inches. Today I busted out the fly rod and landed 7 more little stockies and probably missed another 20+ takes while nymphing (newb flyfisherman).  Was amazed at the lack of crowds compared to opening weekend in Pennsylvania, was nice not having to deal with the once-a-year morons spooking everything.

it was windy so it was hard to fish. perch (yellow and white), bass (largies and smallies), and had a small pike follow a spinnerbait. fishing is still slow. maybe on a calm day it would be ok fr fishing again. got a real nice sunburn if not much else.
i dont even bother fishing streams till mid-late april. the noobs and meat hunters make my blood pressure go up.
