bugs a problem?

Thermacell.  It really works.  Haven't had a bug bite me once.  It certainly has a smell when a new pad is ignited but it goes away in a few minutes.  I lay it on my treestand base (it has to lay flat).  Sorta loud to turn on.  If the bugs are a problem, give it a try.  You can use it for deer scent too once the rut gets close.  $24 at wally world.  Probably best to get the fluid on ebay.

Have to agree. I got back from a bow bear hunt in Canada a few weeks ago. One of the fellows I was with used one. He got bit zero times. I got bit many more than zero times. Supposedly it doesn't bother the game although I can't condirm that. I know I will have one before spring gobbler season. I didn't think I would need it for archery season but am starting to change my mind.

Doesn't look like a hard frost is anywhere in the near future so you may want to get one.  Great for my garden but I haven't been hunting the evenings after work this week due to the hear.  Sat. looks bad too with highs in the mid to upper 80's.  At least I will get one or two last dips in the pool these next few days!  How much does the replacement fluid cost for the thermacell?

I think I'm sold.  I've only been out once and it was miserable enough that I haven't been out since.  Guess I'll try it.  I think it's buck only till it gets cooler though.

That's where they get you Gillz.  It's like $6 a container.  That's at wally world.  Ebay is the place for replacement containers.  People sell like 12 at a time.  I haven't bought any yet.

I only use it when it's absolutely necessary.

But anyway, it is a product that is priceless to me.

I've been using it for 2 seasons now ans they are GREAT!  Literally not a mosquito around you when you have one of those with you.  One of the best purchases for hunting I've ever made.  You won't be disappointed with a ThermaCell.

Has anyone ever used the holster?  I fish in Indiana and Michigan every summer and the skeeters are BAD.  It's somedays impossible to even fish.  Bug spray doesn't even keep them off.

I was told you have to lay it flat but I'd think it'd work in the holster too ?

Haven't used the holster as it's usually packed in my bag until I get to where I need to set up.  I guess it would work but maybe not as well when you think about how heat rises and the scent pad that emits the repellant would not be directly over the heat source...I think flat is probably best.

The holster seems fine for transportation but to me, it's just another piece of equipment to strap on to me somewhere...I'd rather have it in my bag for when I need it.

The website says "mosquito repellant" so I'm not sure on the black flies but it seems when it's on, almost no bugs/insects come around to check you out.  I'm sure Canada's black fly population would put one of these units to the test...

RB -- I have had some flies come up on me while the unit was on.

This morning, I didn't use it and the nats were nailing me.

Thanks, I think it will be worth trying, I don't how this device escaped my attention this long. Maybe I dismissed it as a gimick and forgot about it...

Well, it could be considered cheesy just for the fact that the guys that created the lapper light, invented this.  Either way, it works wonders on mosiquto and nats.
