ambassadeur reel help

i picked up an ambassadeur 6000 casting reel on ebay this week.  i own a couple of 5500 reels, but this is the only reel with the line out alarm (clicker).  when i move the lever forward to engage the alarm and pull line from the reel, i hear nothing.  am i doing something wrong?  the reel was never used, looks great, but is pretty quiet.  thanks for any help.  rap

sub, yeah, i depressed the button, tightened the drag a bit, but no sound, no clicking.  the line out switch is loose, it seems.

i have 2 of these and there is a sliding thumb button on top of the left spool frame.  this will turn the clicker on and off.  if it does not then you should take the side plate off and it may not of been put on properly.

joe, once i take the plate off, what am i looking for?  as it seems to move back and forth with no resistance, is there a spring that is not attached as it should be?

First thing to look for is the diagram, get it and look where everything goes. I do not believe it has a spring they are not tricky to put back in they are however tricky to get orientated correctly..... then again I am easily confused especially after disassembling it cleaning it and all that get it together and it does not click is an easy fix but frustrating. Just google abu garcia reel schematics (sp) and you will find what your looking for.

    Good luck!

the sliding button ( 12647) will engage a spring cam (12649) that fits into a gear (5152).  usually the pin from the sliding button is not properly fitted into the slot of the spring cam.

to get the right schematic, check on the reel foot and the number will tell you themodel.

Yeah, I hate when I think "I've been here before" and then realize it's because I've been lost here before. Went on the original link and used the provided info. I'm lookin at an easy 3 hr. I would like to go, but I'll have to decide when the times a little closer.
