Cross bow ?

I just acquired a older Barnett Wildcat recurve crossbow from a friend. I have no information on and it came with no bolts. My question is, can I still get bolts for it & will it kill a deer ?
I've never hunted with a crossbow and was going to buy one and this one was given to me for free. Can I use it for a year or two and then upgrade later. It came witha nice Simmons 3x32 scope.I appreciate the feedback.

I'd say you can shoot bolts made for Barnett, with no problems,I would shoot at a bow shop and see how many FPS the old Xbow shoots and figure out your kenetic energy.Go to C&Ms behind Freedom.

2219's should make good bolts for that one. That's what a lot of the older x-bows used.

If its one of those old wooden stock and on string going across yes it will kill a deer I killed a 147 class whitetail in ohio with it being my first "give it a try crossbow".  The only thing I found is if its the same bow I had the regular aluminum arrows shortened to get best results.  Use these new rage broadheads man they cut'm open.

    Thanks

A buddy is getting one. To increase his "range" -- He'll be tracking deer alone if he hits one at greater distances than he has previous shot. Hope the deer doesn't "go down over."

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

SK in some cases maybe crossbows are better. For those that don't practice much, maybe they will be more accurate than they were with thier bow and wound less deer.

Although I have seen first hand the effective ranges and they are not going to increase much, pitted against a good vertical bow man who practices at longer distances, the x-bow loses every time especially on downrange KE.
