Off shore work fine ... The 12" will even pull a jet diver with a lure behind it . There are many different sizes . Stick with the 12" to be the most versatile with your trolling methods .

I run a pair of Yellow Birds and smaller Mini boards too. The mini's are my fav.

Leupold, these guys are the ones to give you the best advise so I hope they correct me if I get this wrong... but we found when we used our boards with braid we have to wrap the line around one of the clips instead of just through it to prevent board from coming off or working it's way back the line. We also invested in some of the red clips (which have a small centerpin in them) and replaced one normal clip from each board with a red one to reduce chances of the board coming off of the line completely in rougher water... it is no fun to have to pull everything in so you can go back to retrieve a lost board!
I only have experience with the 'Offshore' tackle boards that we use, they do the job well for us except for the problem I mentioned about the clips...Karen

Church boards are the best nice heavy releases and will hold braid, the offshores you have to replace the clips with heavier ones

Thanks everyone for the reply. Going to try Off Shore planner boards. Have ordered OR-18 snapper adjustable tension release for the boards.
Any recommendation on what pound test of line and do you prefer a particular  brand of line.

When rigging your in-line boards, to stay on the line when released, put a stopper on the line to keep the board from hitting the fish's face. I use a swivel with a neoprene bead to protect the knot. You are right about not wanting to go back to get the board and it's worse when the board breaks the knot and loses the fish too.

the snappers are good releases for braid and you can make homemade tattle flags for cheap if you search the net or OGF.

Personally, I run 40 lb Power Pro braid which is 10 lb diameter.  I also run 2 or more rod lengths, depending on water color, of Floro or Mono as a leader in 10 lb also.  The 10 lb diameter matches the dive charts so it's easier to judge the lures running depth.  That's my set up but others may have better one that work too.
