Drop Shot Rigs

I saw an article about drop shot rigs for ice fishing. Placed an order for some stand-out hooks from Cabelas. Does anyone else use them?

Standout Hooks are awesome! Been using them for the last few years with great luck!

For my fishing reports, product reviews, stories, and other nonsense...

That says it all they work in ice and open water fishing..they are great for pike fishing with live bait through the ice..just thread a 8-12 pound shock resistance leader through it and twist a few times instead

I can't wait to try them. The In-Fisherman article that I was reading had some really sweet ways of rigging that are going to be deadly. (I'm not the only one who sits around noodling on this stuff) The steelhead in the Walnut marina are going to be in trouble. The perch in deep water too.

Not quite safe enough for me just yet. I hope we get some cold nights. I was down at the Walnut marina today Sun., walking the dog. Nobody on the marina but 3 guys in the creek, right next to open water. I could not relax doing that. I might try it right at the ramp in close. I like that spot and getting out of a dunking would be less of an ordeal. I'm chomping at the bit to get out. The head of the PI marina might be OK too.

a good drop shot rig for crappie through the ice has an aberdeen hook tied with a palomar knot 10" to 12" above a shad dart, with a minnie on both, or a minnow above and maggots on the shad dart, an active minnow gives the shad dart some jigging motion.if you try jigging that rig, you will and end up with a big mess or knots in yer line. just let it hang as you would a dead stick.
