That lake freezes funny, its a flood control lake.Once I parked on the causway and ran down and punch a hole,I got a little suprise on water, about 10-12 inches on ice and 6 ft of air then water,I got the hell of in a hurry. Did the same thing in willow bay Kinsue dam,a little dumber I fished water was 2 foot under the ice, about 15 inches of ice.

Afew people have been hittin gold run.  Saw a guy there this past saturday matter of fact.  To thin for me, I heard ice is 3-3.5 inches.   Just what I have heard havent went out and measured yet.  This rain should actually help.  Theres about 4 or so inches of snow on top of the ice.  Then it gets cold a again.  Man I cant wait!!

That would be a heart stopping experience Big Tuna , very scary . Even if it were 2' of "free air" , can you imagine what would happen if the ice broke ? You'd never get out alive . Flood Control Projects can be extremely dangerous to ice fish .

There were 7 guys fishing this afternoon at golden run.  I didnt fish but walked out a little bit.  Checked a hole, ice about 4 inch. Maybe 4 and a half.  I will be waiting til the middle of this coming week.  Cold temps are coming.  I believe saturdays high is only 15!!  Ice looked good but waiting for a little more. I"ll be out in about another week.  Good luck.

Fished this morning for the first time this season.  Golden run had about 4 inch of ice.  Got some crappie and a few gills.  Nothing to get excited about but it felt great to finally get on the hard water.  There were 8 people fishing today.  3 of them were behind the island.

The pixs I posted was at the celery and you can see differrant colors of ice. I,m still trying to smoke a deer
but will hit the ice come Monday. More than likely staying around the Golden Run area though.
270, I agree the black hats just keep everything and grind them into patty,s. Result is a deminished supply.
Wouldn,t mind hitting Pymy up for some tastey eyes.lol Good luck all.
