Thanks for the help guys.  This is a nice stretch of river.  The only downfall was with the river up a bit there's a ton of loose weeds floating downstream.  anyone know how long it takes for the river to flush the weeds out?

The weeds will be there for most of the Fall.  Actually, the weeds, are not that bad this year.  The higher water level spreads the weeds through the water also.  When the river is at 4' at Franklin there is around 5,000 cu. ft. of water per second moving in the river as compared to 2,500 cu. ft. of water per second when the river is at 2.5'.  I usually switch to lures that only have one hook to keep from getting weeds on every cast.  We did good with spinner rigs, flukes and tubes last weekend.  We also caught some hellegramites and caught a few smallmouth on them.  I think that carp dig at the roots of the weeds, releasing the weeds, roots and all.  I've watched them "rooting" in the wide slow areas.  Sometimes the wind and current will push the weeds to one side of the river making it a little easier to fish in some sections.

I agree with what Allegheny Jet wrote.  The recent rains raised the river this week and that might help move some of the weeds out.
