If you are thinking of a gorilla treestand umbrella than forget it.  It is a huge POS and you will regret the purchase.

I use the tree umbrella If it's an all day rain and I'am planning on staying all day. For my normal 2-3 hour sits I just tough it out. They work fine if it's not windy but a stiff wind will destroy them. Tonight was a tough sit in a swaying tree but I did have a couple spooky doe come under me.

I like the gorilla tree umbrella for long sits. It is much better built than the POS i had before it.

Better too far back, than too far forward.

I stay home and sleep.  :)   I got some rain gear and an umbrella.   Helps, doesn't prevent.  Neither has gotten use yet, cause I don't care to hunt in the rain.

Shot my buck this year under one of them umbrellas.  Love them and use it all of the time.  Have had many deer pass by while under one and there doesn't seem to be more than normal that pick me out.

Wind can be a issue with them though.  Hate hunting in the rain or when the skies can open up at any time but I would rather my clothes be dry then getting pelted with rain in Gore Tex.

One thing though, with hunting in the rain comes a responsibilty to be very sure of your shots.

Something about blood trails and rain keeps me indoors during heavy storms...
