Orvis T3 rods

Anyone have any experience with them.  A friend of mine has 10ft 7wt 8.5flex rod for sale and the price is right. It is practically brand new and exactly what I am looking for, length, flex, and weight wise. However, I have no experience with orvis at all.  If anyone owns one or has had one in the past let me know what you thought of it.

I have fished 5wt T3s for probbly 15+ days. Very nice rod.
I have a Trident TLS 2wt, and can't speak enough about it.
Ask your Friend if he/she will let you take it for a day fishing...Because no matter what anyone tells you, it is all personal pref.
See how it feels in your hands, see how it loads, see how it fits your casting style

Orivs makes a good product... and they stand behind it (it will ony cost you 25or30$ if you break it for any reason)
the T3 is made with top of the line reel seat and cork... so it has some style with the functionality

    good luck... keep us posted

also... the rod is now on orvis.com for $310... so i personally wouldn't pay more than 175/200 for a used one tops

Well wouldnt you know my buddy changed his mind.  I shoulda known when he mentioned it after 10 beers it wasnt gonna stick.  So for me a T3 is gonna be outta the question for a little while.  Being a poor college kid I cant afford to spend another 150 on a new one, even though as KJH pointed out the rod is on sale for a great price.  I guess will be looking elsewhere....Anyone have any suggestions for a 10' 7wt in the under $200 range.

It isn't in the class of the orvis rod but last winter i got a 10 foot 7 weight, 3 piece rod at gander mt. for about $70 with the sale and psa coupon. I think it was around $120 total before. So far i like the rod for steelhead. I'm sure there are many out there that will fit your needs.

I would also recomend looking at Temple Fork rods (they are at Gander Mtn).  I bought a 8'6 5wt when I was a poor college student for about $100.  Nice rod... I used it for Stealhead to small trout and panfish.  They also have a no fault warranty...I broke mine on June 16th, and had a brand new rod in my hands in 2 weeks ($25 in shipping cost).  I also fished a Reddington 6/7wt 9ft, which was also a nice rod.. the Orivs Clearwater is a good rod for its price.  Goto International Angler and tell them your deal and ask to cast some rods... those guys are really helpful... get a rod in your hands and cast with it- best way to find out what you like

Beware of buying a rod off ebay... almost all orvis rods on there are refurbs. and therefore come with no warranty
A warrenty is always one of the deciding factors when I purchase a rod... at our age i am much happier with a broken rod being a $30 mistake than a $300 one

Scott looks like it makes a nice product however, they are out of my price range.  I found a 10' 7wt 9.5 flex orvis clearwater for about $100.  I think im gonna go up to flyfishers paradise this week and feel one before I decide.  Thanks for the help guys.

Not gonna be a trout rod, it will be primarily for steelhead in erie and maybe a trip here and there for salmon and steel on Ontario tribs....Im pretty well set for trout rods, in fact I probably have a few too many, ahh I guess you can never have too many.
