My middle Son and I generally always spend at least one weekend every year visiting the tribs under steady rain and blown out conditions. It is always a good time even if the fishing is poor. The day after the rain stops two of the streams up there will hold tremendous amounts of fish and be fishable. Most of you guys know which two those are but I'm not saying anything, I'll be at one of those streams Sunday.

If you want to go tomorrow, go, get on Route 5 and put some time into scouting. There is fish in more tribs than just Elk and Walnut. And after you put some time in finding other fantastic place to fish, SHUT UP and keep it to yourself. There is one small stream up there that fishes well that I have never seen posted here and I hope I never do. There are some real gems when it comes to places to find steelhead but you need to put some miles and time into finding them.

Hey.. the rule of thumb is if there is spotty rain on that weather channel radar then GO!

you can always wait out a medium shower and still fish the light ones.  as long as its not torrential thunderstorms and lightning (use common sense here)

so, I would ALWAYS go (just my opinion)

unless of course, you are made from salt or sugar like a big twinkie.. then you should probably stay home so you don't melt. heh

Just got a report from a friend that was there all weekend and Elk is in perfect shape but the large runs have not happened yet there are fish there but with elbow to elbow conditions you may need to get there at 4am to get a spot.  Good luck hope this helps.
