You DO realize that the only difference in "weights" is the difference in the first 30 feet of line. A 5 weight line with only 20 feet out might be the equivalent of a 4 wt line. And if you only have 20 feet of line out most of the time, maybe that 6 wt line, in 20 feet, will weigh just as much as a 5wt at 30, and therefore give your rod the best casting characteristics.
...also, the weight rating on a rod is simply the manufacturer's suggestion of what line it will cast best for most people.
