Nice Bass On Saturday! (with pic!)
was fishing with the cub scout troop i help out with on saturday....the kids got probably 60 bluegills in 2 hours...noticed some cruising bass that were taking interest as the kids reeled them in....so whenever the worms ran out i said to the kids.....lemme try something. hooked up a small bluegill that one of the kids reeled in....casted out 4-5 time with a bobber...nothing. decided to give it one more shot.....whipped it into a new area.....saw the bass lookin.....looking....gill freaks and makes a mad dash...bass nails him. i told the kids what happened....let him run with for maybe 10 seconds to make sure he really got it. crossed my fingers and held my breath...not only for my sake but so the kids could see this.. set the hook. GOT HIM! played him very lightly since we had small hooks for gills on..didnt know how good i had him. maybe 3-4 jumps and onto the bank he/she went. biggest largemouth ive caught.....the kids were floored...ran back to camp and told the others that didnt come...i think they should be hooked on fishing now. couldnt have wrote a better script....great day! http://picasaweb.google.com/ConradHS/Pack274Fall09?feat=email#5383912528447990834

how tall are you? looks like 18-19inches around 3.5 - 4lbs to me

Yea i would stick by my guess. probably closer to if not 4lbs. They always "seem" bigger than they really are. Really nice fish none the less.

Sweet pic and story. Those kids will probably be telling it for years!
Gills are my #1 big bass bait in ponds. I've fished a few ponds, where the bass will race each other to the sound of a bluegill belly smacker. I'm surprised there isn't a lure out there that mimics a bluegill swimming in circles!!!
