Numbers

This is looking to be a good year for half pounders with lots of Salmon already returning to many of the Pacific streams in numbers not seen in over a decade. This should prove to be a great year for both Salmon and Steelhead, and with all the eggs in the river we are hoping for a great return in a few more years too.

Talked to my friend in Oregon, he said the Columbia is seeing the biggest counts at the fish ladders in history....

    Great Sign.

I guide Oregon on the Columbia, nestucca, Trask and Rouge rivers, and on the American river in Sacramento, CA where I live. I like this board because I was the first person to use and sell CP equip on the rouge and one of the first in the NW so no other forums have caught on yet.

According to my my buddy back in Seattle, the humpies are thick, with quite a few good sized silvers thrown in.

Now, if they could get a handle on the steelhead & kings back there, maybe it would get close to what it was not that many years ago!

    Anadromous,

I was stationed at Beale AFB, and fished the American some. We went below the dam at Nimbus. What a zoo! I acctually witnessed numerous fist fights over crossed lines, etc. About an hour after I left one day, there was a knife fight over a fish!
I worked some on the side for West Coast Bass, and knew an old guy named Tommy Thompson who fished the American all the time. He could catch some fish!
