yough from dawson to perryopolis and driving detour

Hi all,
we're doin our annual canoe trip at hazelbakers. Anyone fished that stretch recently? How's it goin?
Also, is there still a detour on 51 that makes you go down to 201? I saw on Hazelbakers website that it was posted. Still detoured? Thanks!

    The way you're talking about is now open.  (51 to Perry, through the circle, across the tunnel/bridge).  I haven't been fishing for a week or so, I've been walking my dogs a good bit on the trail however.  The river is low and clear.

    I'm doing a float tomorrow as well, but a bit lower than you.  None of the rain forecast to hit this afternoon came here around Smithton, but man was it dark to the South.  I hope it didn't rain too hard down in MD.

    It's gonna be a chilly one tomorrow morning...good luck to ya.

    went past the layton side yesterday afternoon, detour signs have been taken down

    If any of yunz guys are going that way this weekend, be aware that Perryopolis is having its Pioneer Days on Oct. 3 &4.  There may be a good bit of traffic, etc.

    Most deeper holes will hold some small mouths and quite a few below Whitsett area after the lower section below the riffles close to bike trail. Also a few to be had right at the bridge below put in area.
    I bike this several times a week and fish 2x or 3x last several weeks.
    The Perryopolis Pioneer days has a old time reenactment scheduled for like 1 or 2 pm Saturday. I would go check it out if I wasn*t going to the Mellon Arena for a snapshot photo w/ Stanley Cup with a buddy! Guess I will wear either Malkin black jersey home jersey or his 2009 All Star jersey. Let*s go Pens!! Hope they don*t do like the Steelers and blow games right out of the gate..
