Nice surprise

Took a little break from smallie fishin' Sunday afternoon on the upper Allegheny to get a catfish for dinner. After about 15 minutes, pulled in a nice 11-12 lber. Went to pull out my other line an get back to the smallie fishin', when I found out this angry boy was on the other end of it. I thought I had quite a big cat on there for a while!

    I was at Mahoning Creek Lake a couple weeks ago throwing a countdown rapala and had a big softshell turtle follow it right up to the boat then sit there looking at me. Scared the crap out of me when I first saw it.

    Soup!

    I was very surprised at the snapping turtles in the aquarium at Cabela's. The one kept swimming after a small shiner in the tank.   I didn't realize how actively they hunted in the water. Unless, of course, that one in the aquarium was just bored.

    Dubs, did you catch anything else in Mahoning? Used to fish that alot, seemed like it was getting fished out almost. Couldn't catch a crappie over 6" anymore.

    A couple medium sized largemouth. Nothing that great. It seems the Amish fish it a lot.....
