Suggestions please

Considering purchasing this rod / reel combo anyone familiar with ross products ? I really wanted a straight 7wt but this one appeals to me for some reason . I am new to flyfishing so any imput would be appreciated ..... Mainly I will be stripping buggers or drifting eggs / nymphs ............. Need something that will reach out & touch some fish at the mouths ................Thanks .......Don

The Essence FS Fly Fishing Outfits are complete outfits - just tie on a fly and you are ready to fish! All of the products included with these outfits are top quality. In fact, they are the same high quality Ross products that we sell individually, but when purchased together as part of a complete outfit, you save!

The Essence FS Fly Fishing Outfits are available in three sizes - 3/4wt., 5/6wt. and 7/8wt., covering everything from small streams to light saltwater. Each outfit is built around an Essence series fly rod, which is named after Mel Krieger's most notable work - The Essence of Flycasting. Mel Krieger was one of the top fly fishing instructor in the world. These rods were designed with Mel to satisfy the most advanced anglers, as well as those just starting out. An Introduction To Fly Fishing DVD is included with each outfit. This DVD, hosted by Mel, makes learning the sport of fly fishing a fast, easy and fun experience for every level of fly angler.

Each outfit also includes a Ross designed Flystart disc drag fly reel that is manufactured out of high quality aluminum alloy. The Flystart reel is pre-spooled with premium, weight forward, floating fly line, backing and a 9' tapered leader. In addition, Ross Worldwide has included durable carrying cases to protect your outfit when traveling or in storage.

    Looks good to me, I've got a Redington 7 wt, and couldn't be happier.

    Be sure to get whatever kinda warranty you can.

    i got a SAGE launch in 7 wt. 4 piece.. love it.. and its cheap only 250$ i put an 1880 sage reel on it and it is the most blanaced rod/reel combo ive ever fished with.. being only 22 i cant really afford any rod /reel over 500$ so i thought this was by far the best bang for my buck .. and a test casted alot of rods and this 1 eflt the best

    Check out the TFO NXT series. Basically you get the same thing as the Essence. Only differences is with the TFO you get a rod/reel case instead of seperate cases and the TFO has a no fault lifetime warranty. Same price.

        Looks like a good rig.  Check out Fish USA for some other combos; the price may be lower.

    Thanks guys decided to go a different route ......... picked up ross evolution model 3 large arbor reel and a fenwick 7wgt 2 piece rod 9ft ....... so (Jerry Doubletaper) I need that orvis line you offered me ??? Please?/llEEt mEE nO /K?/ ........ Thanks for your input guys ....... I researched all your suggestions but found the best value through the two above .

    looks like you have a good setup picked out. i meant to tell you about those flystart reels. i have a friend who, doesn't work for ross, but probably should. haha. he owns everything ross and tfo makes. he said the fly start reels aren't that great because they are machined a different way so they fail a lot. not sure what he's talking about, but that's what he told me about them one time back in the summer.

    i have a friend who i frequently steelhead fish with who owns two flystart reels, one in the 7/8 range and the other in the 3/4, not saying the other opinions here are wrong, but he likes his reels.

    as with anything, you'll have some who like it and some who don't, you gotta go with what you think is best
