Plastic Rod holders

Okay... just got back from trolling out on the lake with dipsys and my rod holders are giving me too many problems... every time a fish hits it pulls the holder right out of the bracket and send it spinning straight back.. so i think its time for some metal launcher type rod holders.. any suggestions on what brand or kind??  Thanks in advance

Craig rod holders are the best in my opinion. Fish Erie has them and so does Poor Richards. I have 16 plus a 13 position  rocke launcher they made on my boat.

A temporary solution is to pin them in place. Drill a small hole thru both pieces in the position you want them and then run a small screw into the two pieces pinning them together

A friend did that to two plastic holders on the rails at the front of his boat and they have worked ok for 2 years. Maybe not a permanent solution but till you can get the holders you want it should help and is pretty simple to do.

I like\use Cisco rod holders sold out of Cleveland.  They are a bit pricey, but you can adjust in any position and they are strong.  They give me great separation on dipsey's.

Ciscos are top notch, I use big jons and they are a good product for a mid level price as well.

What kind of plastic holders do you have?  I've used Fish-On rod holders for years with absolutely NO problems.  I just cannot bring myself to trust the tube style with the strike of a muskie because the Fish-Ons have a locking mechanism which holds the rod in place at all times.  They also allow me to run a down rod with tip into the water.....The only drawback I see is that the butt of the rod pertrudes into the boat when run straight out the sides.

Thanks for the answers guys i appreciate the input.. and i think im gonna have to go with dave on that quick fix for now. But i looked at the ciscos and they look like a great holder, just not sure if i want to spend that much, but its still a possibility. As for the type of rod holders ill have to check and make sure what they are. But i went to shenango today and they do fine with medium action rods, its just the ten foot dipsey rods they cant handle.. thanks again

Just add on a cord to keep the rod in the holder if you are worried...

I'd give that a try CB, but the main reason I use them is the adjustability of the Fish-Ons.  Turing the holder all the way down so that it allows for one rod to be run almost completely verticle and in the water.  Hard to explain without you being there to see it....something that tube holders or down easts just cannot do.
