Fishing Dates?

When does everyone plan on getting up to the tribs.? I know it's early. but I'm getting anxious.
Last year I only got one trip in because of the bad back, plus it snowed a bunch early if I remember right (salmo hates snow). The fish were spread out & spooky. I only had a few fish take in 3 days fishing. The only thing I landed was a small Steelie.
I have a weeks vacation left this year. Maybe get a few trips in if all goes well.
One thing I noticed last year was no matter where I went there are other people fishing/ripping nearby. I talked/fished along side of some nice fellas though.
I got to one hole @ daylight thinking I'd be first. There was already a couple guys there. The one was teaching the other how to fish correctly for Salmon /Steel. They even offered to rotate through the pool with me. Real nice guys.
I had a fresh Hoho take there, one jump & a few minutes of sulking it was off.

I saw one fellow fishing a sweeper hole fairly with no less than 10 guys ripping like mad all around him. Wish I would have had a couple beers. I would have shared one with that fine fellow.
It's not always about hero shots & catching fish. The adventure in itself is the real fun.

All this being said I don't see much of Sept. passing by before I head up. I like casting to a Salmon now & then.

I just got some bunny strips in Pink, Orange & Red all with Black ends for some streamers. Time to tie some flies & say a prayer over each one.

What say you? Let's get our thoughts centered on the fishing season to come!

I'll be on the river next friday ... basically just to get back to the water . But as for river fishing every fri-mon from Sept-4th until Oct-16th. throw some weekdays in there and the full week of sept-26 > oct-3 (I have some down time during that week where I can fish) . Then after Oct-16th depending on how full the freezer gets with all natural meat(venison).

If you can make it during the week and my down time I'd like nothing better then to fish with ya.

If you must come for SALmon--the 3rd Wed in Sept SHOULD carry a mixed bag of kings/hoes w/ the possibility of some bonus steel--- + I have Wed's off--my next 2 vaca weeks are in Nov though

Steel on a pin---so easy a caveman can do it.

It happens. They come when they come. Picks last years dates and you might be early for the big run this year.
For Kings  late Sept - early Oct throw the dice.
Don't fish for them myself anymore.

I guess you just use the link button on the top left. Why? Is someone mad at us again? Bass fishermen don't like us duud.

Plus we could fight against ourselves. That could be fun.

I'm planning on being on the river sometime late August for 2-3 days and also early to mid September for 4 -5 days. I usually lodge at Double Eagle, been staying there since Jim Rusher owned the place.

Would be happy to fish and trade tips with fellow board members.

    Tight lines,

I got a couple hundred of those Daiichi X Point Steelhead Globug hooks in the mail. Nowavail. in size 10, before the smallest you could get was 8. I got 100 of each. I may use some as a stinger on big streamers with a Wellington shank for the shaft.
My first trip is looking Oct. sometime.Plenty of time to tie.

got a few in the river, just came back. river is still low so you can see everything. cohookhead was right i was down in the little black hole and seen a few but nothing to get excited about just yet. i wasn't gonna go to the dsr but i'm pretty sure they're getting ready to run for labor day weekend.

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

I would'nt call in sick to work just yet. If you put some time in on the water you may get one. There are a "few" slipping in now and then, in past years this is how the run starts. About a dozen a day for a bit then once the river gets scented up with fish the numbers start increasing. Look at the latest charter boat catches and you'll see some salmon coloring up. Now is not the numbers game, but it will be soon.
