Deer Lakes

Anyone ever had any luck at Deer Lakes? I came across them on a sales call and never knew they existed. What kind of fish are in there, other than the stocked trout?

Bass, bluegill and catfish are in the three lakes. Haven't fished them in years, but the top lake was always good. Don't know if any of left but back in the late early 70's they stocked the upper lake with bowfin to rid the lake of stunted bluegill.

I fished there earlier in the year. We hit the upper lake. Lots of people there. I got skunked, but did miss a few.. I'm not really a trout guy.
I did have a blast watching a few guys do some carping on the fly though. There are some nice ones in there.

have caught a few nice channel cats in the lower lake too.  although this time of year, the weeds are horrendous in the middle and lower lake.  don't spend much time at the upper like, so don't know what it's like.  couple years ago, a guy at the park office said there are plenty of bass in the upper lake in the 15-20 inch range.

like to take my kids there in the spring to let 'em catch a few trout.  it's the easiest place around to catch some in the spring.  think they also do a fall stocking in october.

The upper lake used to be an old farm pond and was a farm before it was deer lakes park. The upper lake is the largest and deepest of the 3 lakes, the bottom 2 are man made and 6 to 8 feet at the deepest. They were just rebuilt a couple of years ago. I catch pan fish for bait their and go down to the river and use them for bait for big catfish. Nice park I like the top lake best, just my 2 cents thanks and have a great day ....... Flatfish
