Clarion River.. August ...

here are the basic reports I heard this week-end at work about the Clarion..

#1 VERY HIGH water levels... several canoe rentals were not allowing anyone under 18 to go in canoes...

#2.. Chocolate colored because of all the rain..
and it rained this afternoon.. may not be fishable until the end of the week and that's with rain still in the forecast ...

Bummer...

Was there camping only a week ago, and the clarion "then" was everything that Dr Trout said it is, i managed only 1 fish on a 10 mile float trip, but at least it was a nice one.

the river is still cloudy below 322. i'm sure it will take a while to clear up.
the streams in the ANF were all running high over the weekend.
it was a good weekend to be on the harley and enjoy the ride than head to camp. seen a grouse, deer, a bear, a few beers and a bottle of wine. great weekend!!! (well maybe more than a FEW beers!)
kane had a good bike show with quite a few AMF'S. they even had a class for custom metric. i guess that's a nice way of say'n jap. bikes!

Well I was surprised... The river was fishable at Portland Mills this evening.. I fished for 2 hours and landed 7 smallmouths..

The river is high and the current is super FAST...  and the water is murky.. but I caught fish.. all the details in my journal.. and a cute side note on my trip over..but here's photos from today's 2 hour fishing trip.. and I tried to take some advice and not offend anyone this time and not put the fish on the ground.. I can't promise I'll always do that.....   but I did today

No today I was using an inexpensive shakespeare spinning reel on a 7 foot shakespeare fly rod...

total investment of about 25 dollars...
tried throwing a couple spinners on my Berkly rod and Mitchell 300
    but no bites.
