Speed and Temp probe questions

Looking for opinions on which units are best. I am looking at purchasing the fish hawk X 4 system and would like some input. I know they are not necasary for erie but want one anyway. Any advice and input would be appreciated.
     Thanks Captain Fathead

Just put the New X4 on my boat after a lot of research. the main complaint about the old fish hawk 840 was probe battery life, it was a 9v. The new X4 from the reviews I have read get somewhere upwards of 100 hours on 4 AA batteries. It has a nice big LCD display that will be easily visible from the back of the boat, even in your big beast. Seems fish hawk got it right this time. Reading Lake O reviews and people saying its rock solid down to 200'  as well. The cannon you have to change the downrigger cable out as thats how it communicates and the depth raider has ben a solid unit for years, display is a little small though. I do not think you would be disappointed with the X4.

Cannons system has been discontinued. Lost my Cannon probe a month ago. probe replacement alone $400.00. I went with the Depth Raider this time alot of guys in Ontario run them and I heard nothing bad about them. The new Fishhawks are supposed to really good units now I guess the old ones were problematic.

THEY HAVE BEEN DISCONTINUED. Meaning they NO LONGER MAKE THEM. Buy one for $200.00 and to Replace just the probe will cost you $400.00. Go with another unit as it will not be cost effective in the long run. Replacement probes for Depth Raider and Fish Hawk are right around $200 and they are better units and still in production.

Got the X4 a couple of months ago and are very pleased with it. Was worried about the problems the old one had but it seems like they have fixed it, Good unit.

I didn't know they have been discontinued...I bought mine one EBAY a year ago and haven't had any problems with it......Even if it last 5+ years, I got my money out of it, than I will buy then next best thing...
