French Creek Access

Anyone have any information they are willing to share on where to access French Creek?  Everything I've read on the watershed indicates that fishing would be a great experience.  Any information at all would be appreciated.

A bad day of fishing beats a great day at work!

Utica, Carlton, Cochranton are three places I use that come to mind. There are other spots along the way but hard to detail. Others can tell you about access areas further north.

French Creek is a great fishery when the water level is right.  It gets muddy often so check the rains in the area and north before jumping in.  Of course the Allegheny is nearby and may be more fishable if FC is not ideal.

Cochranton, Utica, franklin, (carlton.....not so good unless yer in a canoe, gotta drag it up a pretty steep embankment). Shaws landing (just south of Meadville). I THINK you can use Custaloga Town also (been awhile). Saegerstown has a launch also. Best places to use a boat are north of cochranton, best fishing is south of cochranton though you pretty much have to use a canoe due to the rocks

I don't think you can launch at the scout camp.

Cambridge Springs,Venango,Saegertown,Meadville. These and all others listed are good fishing when the water is in shape. All towns that the creek flows through have easy access for wading.

I belive your right on launching from the scout camp its off limits. There is an excellent hole across the street fromt the Station 4 in Cochranton its only accessed by canoe, boat or walking from 322.
