Camping trip uprooted! Are there pymy charters? or boat rentals?

Well.. it looks like my fishing trip to Clarion River got snagged on a rock - guy called back and told me they overbooked their sites for the weekend and we're basically screwed.

Thinking now about cramming our tent somewhere in Pymy - I really wanna take my girl out fishing and catch some nice pike.

Can anyone suggest a place at Pymatuning where we can pitch our tent and spend a couple nights?  We also don't have a boat, so we would need to rent something I guess on the cheap, just to get us onto the lake where the fish are.  Hell even a charter if it's not too expensive..

Can anyone suggest anything that can help save our fishing/camping trip?  I was looking forward to wading creeks for trout - but catching nice pike and bass sounds even better the more i think about it.

DaFunk, there's a bunch of campgrounds up there. Go to www.cookforest.org or call the Cook Forest Vacation Bureau and they'll help you out. A buddy of mine owns a campground that's top notch, but not real close to the river www.kalyumet.com lots of activities for the kids, Mark and Becky are great people.

As far as pyme camping and boating goes....I went earlier in June.

Went out of Linesville, we got a small boat..sat 3..uncomfortably. I think it ran us $70 or so for 10 hours. It got the job done however. There's a campground at linesville. Not sure how much the tent rental spots are but we paid $28 for our camper to have electricity. Nice thing is...the linesville marina has a all the bait and crap you need before you go out. Hope this helps a little.

I'm with bulldog. there are tons of campgrounds near the clarion river, in cooks forest.  I have stayed at Deer Meadows campground before and it was nice.  Go to google maps and search for: campground, cooks forest.

The other thing is there are no pike in pymy.  there are bass and musky.  if you want her to catch fish you could always count on the spillway for carp, and you wouldnt need a boat if you dont want to spend alot and still have fun.

If you are renting a boat there is the linesville, espyville, and jamestown marinas on the pa side, and Im not sure bout the ohio side.

The worst day hunting or fishing will always be better then the best day at school or work!

We just rented a pontoon out of Jamestown last weekend.  $100 for the day.  You might want to call and check as they are probably all booked up for this weekend.  They also have 14' aluminums for about $60 a day.

dafunk, try loletta campground. just out of mareinville. this is state run. the east branch of millstone runs along the parks banks. there is a dammed up swimming hole that also is stocked with trout. modern toilet and shower. you will be within 10 minutes at most from the clarion river and about 1/2 hour at most from the tionesta.

    kalyumet campground. on miola road
    cook forest trails. near sigal
clear creek state forest campground. right on the clarion river.

I think the Jamestown camp ground (if that's what its called) was a nice place to stay & there is a boat rental place right down the road (pontoons).I took my family there 2 years ago & thought it was reasonable...

I managed to get another campsite near MacBeth's cabin where rte 30 crosses the clarion.

I plan to rent a canoe, have someone drive me upstream and then spend the day paddling back to camp..

hope there are lots of fish along the way :-)
