Shades Beach to be dredged

I know that some of you a while back were discussing shades beach boat launch. I thought yinz might be interested to know this....They announced on the local news today that they will be dredging and "upgrading" some of the facilities there. Here's a link.

THANK YOU SLICK. Now we dont have to make the longer runs from east ave or north east.

Problem is , is that the design of the marina is not so good and if it has to be dredged that badly then it will enevitablly (sp)  have to be done every year. or maybe even 2 to 3 times a year. I could go on and on about the problems with the marina  but Im going to say that Im so glad its there so I wont.

terror , I checked it yesterday on the way home from work and no activity down there at all. The dredger isnt even there yet. I will be checking on it untill the dam thing is open for service. I will post on this thread when I find out its ready for business. unless someone gets to it first.

I am eager to get out there again and fish in that area. So convenient right smack dab in the middle of east ave and north east marinas. Its a real shame they Effed it up to begin with. I truly feel if they dont rebuild it the right way it will cause problems and headaches every year to get it open. IMO

More details on this, the video on their site doesn't say but I thought I saw on the broadcast news that the dredging was going to be done in a hurry something by the end of May I thought..?

There’s some good news for boaters who use Shades Beach in Harborcreek to launch their vessels.

Harborcreek supervisors awarded the bid this morning to Chivers Construction to dredge Shades Beach.

Chivers bid $65,000 for the dredging job - more than what supervisors had budgeted but voted unanimously to approve the bid.

Harborcreek Supervisor Dean Pepicello says, “They’ll take out somewhere in the neighborhood of a thousand cubic yards of leaves and sediment, some sand that have been in there. At the end of the day when things are said and done that facility will be able to launch boats."

There is also a streetscape project underway at the entrance to shades beach.

A new parking lot, benches and information about Harborcreek and the Seaway Trail will be available to visitors.

OR  did I really capture a picture of the shades beach bigfoot. There was rumors of a migration this way.

Thats better than 2 feet and less so I will manage.

And I will deal with all the imperfections about the marina for its convenient location.

We checked it out yesterday too and several trailers were in the parking lot. And there were about 30 boats off the point straight out form the launch..

I just got a call and heard there were about 30 trailers in the parking area as of about 5 minutes ago, and it seems really nice.  Time will tell I suppose.
