Anybody doing Tionesta Creek this weekend?

Just wondering... I'm planning to camp South of Minister this weekend and early next week. Hitting TC wherever. Anyone else here plan on fishing the area or fish there recently?

Have you ever camped at Hearts Content? It's a few miles away from Tionesta Creek or the Allegheny river, but that's our #1 Favorite campground. And then there is always the Landmark Hotel / Restaurant in Tiddiout (sp?) if you are looking for a great fish sandwich (Friadys only) and some "local color".

Terry, I noticed Heart's on the map and drove not far from it. Maybe I'll give it a try sometime this summer. Thanks for the suggestion (and the lead on the eats)!

Hearts content used to be a great deer hunting area too.

I checked out the Tionesta outflow last week. I'd never been there before and I was totally unprepared for conditioons. There I was with my 4 foot ultralight and 4 pound test, and I find basically a raging river. What kind of fish can be caught there?

Danes,  You can catch almost anything there.  they stock it with trout also.  I have got Bass, Pike ,catfish and trout there.  Anything thats in the river or lake is there.  Get some pressure with the camp ground there.

There wer not many people there, the campground wasn't open yet. I had my son with me and I was way undergunned, so I didn't stay long. looks like it could be good, but I wasn't sure how deep it was or how strong it flowed throughout the year.

Flow depends on how much water being let out of the dam.  i am not sure of how deep it is but there is a gauge on the wall.  it is usually at 9to 11 on the wall.  It drops where the power line crosses.  There are alot of nice hole below.  I like to fish it to the river.

There was a sidewalk from the parking lot that led down to the water. The sidewalk basically ran right into the water. So, I assumed it was running high, even though it wasn't muddy.

Yea,  That is a handicap ramp.  The water is usually below that by about a foot.  Sometime alittle more sometimes alittle less.  Right there and right across from there (you said you have a son not sure of his age) you can get some nice bluegills and pearch.  I take my kid with me he fishes for them and I throw some bigger stuff.  Pm me next time you are there.  If I am around I will stop there.

I'm heading up to Tio this weekend. First time this year. Has anyone fished Nebraska Bridge recently?
Great info on the outflow btw!

I fished at Nebraska for a short time on the same day I tried the outflow. It looks like there is a bunch of trees and logs and debris stuck under the bridge. The water was up within two or three feet of the road. I never fished there before, so I dont know what normal conditions are for there. It seems pretty popular.

That's pretty normal conditions. When the ice melts, that whole area floods. It's a pretty awesome sight. Last year when I saw it, you could barely see the top of the bridge. I imagine that's why there is trees, logs, and debris stuck under the bridge. It is pretty popular to fish. It's seems to give a fisherman a mixed bag but from what I know people like it for catfish. It also gets some of those bigger fish that people go for at the outflow. I like Nebraska Bridge a bit better than the Outflow. It's not my first pick for trout though.
Maybe I'll see you up there this weekend. It'll be my first time up this year and I'm eager to get some wings at Cougar Bobs.

couger bobs for wings.  Now we are talking.  Go up from the bridge up around the bend it is nice there.  you would also be very surprised about the trout that are in there.

i was just in cougar bobs last weekend and had wings/pizza and uh... it sucked horribly.  The beer on the other hand was just fine.  It's 3 am... summer break... and from this post I've decided I'm leaving for forest county in 1 hour
