Backpack tackle bags
Anyone use one? Which one? Any recomendations? I walk about a mile to my favorite fishing hole and this would help free up my hands to carry other stuff! Thanks..John

I hike quite a bit fer fishin too. My next "tackle box" will be a chest/backpack. My buddy has one and it's sweet. Right now I fish a softbag tackle box with trays in it. It has a strap that fits over my sholder and I'm hands free! I love it!...'cept when my buddy is callin it my "purse".
I don't always snag fish, but when I do... I choose Little Cleos I'm the best looking smartest snagging poacher alive...

I good softpack is fine for small hikes or quick trails but if you really want to move easily going a mile or so, i'd opt for any small back pack, wasn't kidding about those day school packs..i use them as a tackle bag also great for for wet gear or extra sweatshirt too.

I bought a german military rucksack for around $30. Holds a ton of stuff, waterproof, and durable as hell!
Also those women's tote bags and purses (the little more pricey ones the handles on the cheap ones break when full of sinkers) work too........unless you are easily embarassed.

I recently bought a Bass Pro xps stalker bag that was also a back pack that holds 5 of hte 370 plastic lure holders. WOW. This bag is unbeatable. I would love to give you the link but just spent a while trying to find it online again and can't. In the magazine though it is item # 38-427-12-000. It was $55.00 but worth every penny. Hope this helps.
I always feel more alive when I am throwing my pole into a wet spot.

An old school pack works good but i think a hunting backpack has more useful pockets for fishing and fishing gear. Most hunting bags are water resistent so when your far from your truck and a downpour hits all your gear doesnt get soaked and rusts up all your lures and hooks. The shoulder straps on a hunting bag have better padding then a school bag, so your mile walks are even easier. There are more styles for hunting then for fishing and tend to be cheaper unless you go for the crazy pack bags.

If you aren't financially strapped, check out an army recon pack (the small one) has many pockets and sleeves and attachment points and can be rigged just about any way you choose. Some even come with a camelbak insert for carrying water, or, your favorite beverage on the hike in/out. A little pricy but well worth it in the long run. 7.62 ammo pouches are perfect for small fly/lure cases. The straps on the side can be used to carry a rod(s) and the inside compartment is waterproof and can carry waders and boots and a vest.

I got one for $45 that the inside is about 5 gallons and the outside has pockets all over. Very big and can fit a ton of gear in it. Its used for carp fishing and I think this website prohibits outside stores so can't post it up. Very nice and has a strap near your stomach area for extra support for when you load it up with a ton of gear.

I got the Fishpond double haul,and love it,the chest pack when worn around your neck does get heavy after a long day.i also tend to put way more junk in there than i will use over the course of a year.Had it for three years now and holding up like new.
