    DT8F = double taper 8wt floating.
    Try the Cortland 333. You'll get at least two years out of it and a decent line for the $$$$.

    Dano,

    Why did you recommend a double taper for a steelhead line?  I have been using a weight forward line and I was just curious why you would recommend a DT.

    What are the differences of a WF and DT lines, do you get more distance with a WF, is one easier to cast than the other.

    The difference between the two is the amount of taper over the length of the entire line.  For instance, a weight forward line has the largest portion of the taper in the front, compared to a double taper that has an equal taper on both the front and end of the line.  Weight forward lines are generally the easier of the two to cast, but that's not saying that a double taper would give you difficulty.  A weight forward line would give you more distance because there is more weight at the front of your line.  Now, when steelhead fishing long cast don't really come into play, especially with a 10 foot rod.

    ealinsteel has it right.
    On Erie tribs, your not casting very far and really ever need to shoot much line.
    Double taper lines will roll cast and mend better when you have more then 30 ft of line on the water.
    The biggest advantage of the double tapered line is that once the front section gets beat up over time, you can unspool it, reverse it and use the other end. That's why dt lines have twice as much life than wf lines.
     Hope that helps.
