scoutin for troutin!

Early spring ice out is the best time for shoteline fishing imo, can't wait to fish some old haunts this week!  glty all be safe and keep it clean! It really saddens me how much trash I see going up the quickway (rt17)  just outside woodbury commons, seen so much roadside trash it really is sickening how the pollution still goes on. Anyway, off to work today maybe tomorrow a trip again! Its my favorite time of year for scountin for troutin!

You are more north so in my opinion the water temp. may have alot to do with it, but as i always understood it, the salmonoid will always be where the baitfish are. Such is the case for impoundments with smelt runs. I know there are smelt in at least three resi i fish in the catskills.. i seen them schooling this time of year.. wish i were up tonight with that moon! hey you have to learn about this from hands on or a good local , i know lk george has smelt runs! Anybody doing yet ?.. i hope to get upstate before easter, i have work first, i don't mind the weather this time of year. i wear winter ice fishing gear !
