Northbound

today headed north , you know goin' where the water tastes like wine.
someone had told me it was supposed to be a nice "weather" wise day , sunny and 40's maybe 50 deg. One thing I learned amoung many things today was weather forcasting was not their strong point. Think about it, looking at Albany area weather and heading up to the Adirondack mountains .
So glad I looked for advice on the internet this morning for that area we were heading and seen , clouds, snow and wind high's mid 30's hummm pretty much spot on except the wind thankfully was light. But we are fishermen right ? I dragged that poor dudes azz out in 4 degs. to stand in freezing water to fish so no big deal.
Anyway, I had a great time, learned a TON of new water. That is an area of the ADK's I do not fish but with the help today I'm sure I will be re visiting . The goal was trout, the plan was pretty laid out, the opportunity was wide open. I think the only thing we missed was the tip-ups & gas auger. Some places it could have been done.
Again what a GREAT day out and here is the PORN !!

The Bruiser of the day, Awesome fish, pic's just don't do it's due

Only problem was we had to wait for these guys to leave

I had a good ole day me myself and I.. hardly anyone out there and I was glad.. the streams looked great but nothing doing (as usually is the case until the stockies are dumped) so I had my nature walk fill and drove to the resi where I had a bit of action .. it was a pretty good half day pm for me,  2lber chrome finally hit after three follows .. had more follows elsewhere but it got too late in the day. http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/oo359/luke7908/459009.jpg

Thought I said where ? The Adirondack Mountains, there are only 1 Adirondacks in NY.

Sorry but maybe a ride along might open the door.

Really, there is so much good water there to fish I don't think I will ever be fishing for trout below the blue line again ,not that I do anyway except great lakes.  That fish was worth a heck of a lot more then $29.00. To me it was a lifelong lesson. But it is back there for the next licensee to give a try.

    You're a good man, Tuna...

I agree- I could probably spend my entire life just exploring the trout water in Warren and Hamiton Counties alone...  Once you throw Essex into the mix, it would take TWO lifetimes...

Lots of streams, tons of lakes, and limitless options if you are willing to poke around sometimes...

Plus, GoogleMaps makes things a lot easier too these days

Nice to see those fish go back...  It's like friggin' paradise to me up there...  Close to home, and wild as hell...
