Why I Did Not Fish The SR

NYY, yea a bunch of fresh fish came in with the water increase and run off. But where I was planning to fish , well they have been there un touched since Nov-30 until April-1
I have been watching the waters rise & rise over the past week. The discharge from the powerhouse was 1,800, include the runoff and the river was running 2,400 in Pineville, a lot more below a little less above.  It just got to the point when you could not "really" fly fish.
Now today this was posted from the powerhouse basically which means "watch out it's going to rise quick"

Caution! Due to current weather conditions and potentially significant runoff from uncontrolled parts of the watershed, flows may change drastically from this forecast and special operations might be required. Please be alert for local warnings and use extreme caution near the river.
Until 8:00 PM Sat APR 04, 1,800 CFS

To me and my client today it just was not worth taking the chance or their money.

Anyone who is planning on fishing there in the near future keep an eye on the water. It may be a week or 2 before things can settle out .

All the rain forecast this week... it looks ugly.  I got a friend staying at Yankee Fly for a week that says I should come up...nahhhh I'll pass.  I have enough trouble in good conditions, as Tuna well knows.

    Yank:

You should go there's a good run of suckers in early April.  Really good when cooked up with some BBQ sauce on the grill.  Especially if you have some Old Milwaukee to wash it down.

Wow...  Fried suckers and Old Milwaukee...

I would double-check your septic tank capacity before proceeding too much further with that plan, guys!

I think Ed's recipe calls for lots more of the Old Milwaukee than it does suckers.

I just remember the good job you did of catching suckers through the ice on Round Lake when you, Hook and I went.

NYY:  Actually, you don't have to catch the suckers first.  The Old Milwaukee goes down well before, during, and after!
