Lookin good for T opener!

I like to play a few tull albums on the way up to set the mode.. and the songs stay with me when i'm trailing through wooded trails poking my way through to the shoreline looking for early brookies  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1o-PVvvShq0&feature=related

I will likely start my opener where I fished last in 08, this will help me determine/survey how well this trout water impoundment is being managed.  I'll be using the ultra light noodle and tied blues from the fall bt roe i caught there. My plan is to be there very early predawn weather permitting.

lots of places, I doubt it at my first spot though.  I'm bringing the new fly rod to make a few feeble attempts at casting a little beadhead, but bringing the ultralight and some spinners spoons and rapalas also.  If you're hitting the Catskill rivers let me know how they look!

I'm pretty sure there is still ice on the higher resi. elevation .. depending on the weather i'll try the stream first, don't mind off color but if it is too much, i'm hitting the weir..I always bring my flyrod /ultra lights/ lake rods... copper john beadhead nymphs 10s 12s it is suggested darker this time of year..be sure to try dark hares ear. I got to try my little noodle browning with eggs.yank you want to meet i'll pm you

Don't look good with this rain forecast. I might just call it off for wed. opener.. but i could hit spots I know will be red hot for trout. Just that i'll only do a day trip instead of staying over. I can wait for the weekend or do both!

Why do you think trout (well most streams) open on April Fools Day ?
few and far between to find the low level waters not high & muddy. If you want good (better) fishing , head up to those small tribs in the higher areas. They usually only hold small native fish but run off faster and clear up quick. Or then try a stillwater, usually they are not prone to run-off rain problems.
Looks like the SR is heading for trouble , 2,200 & rising. I may be trying to chase blitz down for some gills :)

Tuna, I just had plans hitting a special place, it is almost like that anual tradition thing.. anyway, I know more places that hold trout for the opener in any weather. Plenty of the tribs entering the" _________"are prime spots..and I know pools that will be like magnets , holding huge "___________" even if it is straight pouring rain all the day long! I am well rehearsed in T day and even if IT is solo , fine with me, no one to debate when to move from a spot or which spot to try next. You know how fun a tundra with tunes is on a rainy day!
