Kindly please post where you got this info, I would like to verify it.

Our bass club has a permit to hold a tournament on the lake during the time frame you mentioned. I would have thought that we would have been contacted and provided this info.

    Thanks

From what I heard it is only fishing around the dam. I read about it in the paper. You can still boat fish the lake but an area around the dam is off limits if I remember correct. There is also no shore fishing from the dam or I think an area of 100 yards around it. The rest of the lake will be open. I read this a week or two ago and am hoping my memory is serving me correct.

Any mention of how far they will be drawing the lake down?  I would like to recover some of the dozens of crawler harnesses of mine that are on the bottom and see the stumps I keep getting snagged on!  May concentrate the walleyes a little more up there when they do draw it down.

I worked the crew that prepared that lake for filling.  I couldn't believe how many stumps were left.  It almost seemed as though they cut every tree off, took the wood they wanted, burned the rest and left the stump a few feet high. After two days of trying to (unsuccessfully) walk in the mud I quit!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Mikastorm just heard part of the story was looking for more info, hence the reason for the post.  I would not let this tarnish your opinion of one of the "good guys" SplitShot.

Sorry  guys. The wife read it to me because my glasses where in my truck. I failed to hear the 100yds bit. I guess my hearing is going too. After reading cracks reply I fetch my glasses and drug the paper from the trash and reread it. It did not mention how low they would have to drain it.
Thanks for ; good guy" comment. Your giving me a complex.

I think that pretty well sums it up, he said his wife was reading it to him. I'm thinking thats why he only caught the no fishing part. I don't think your hearing is going or getting any worse. It is probably the same if you ask your wife.

Yes dear, huh, what did you say?  :-)  Anyways, thanks for the info.  Did they mention how long the work will take and how long it will be drawn down?  I'll have to make it up to camp around then and plan for some fishing out of Launch 1.

    Here is the total report.
The lake will be drawn down about a foot beginning Aug. 17 to renovate grating on the dam inlet.
The area surrounding the dam will be closed to the public. Fishing from the shore will be prohibited and boats won,t be allowed within 100yds. of the dam.
The work is scheduled to continue through Sept. (quote: sharon Harald)

Mikastorm, Now I see why you said "No boats or shore fishing allowed" which would mean no fish'n period. Your wife read it to you! And you didn't get the whole story. Sorry, if I offended you! Good fish'n

The lake will be droped or let down 1to 2 feet  1 foot for now while dam is repaired It will effect fishing only a little near the dam.............  I read this on bulletin at the campground.

I bass fished it last Sunday afternoon into early evening. Water was down about a foot. Fishing was slow to say the least. Dog days of summer I guess. Managed five decent keepers ranging from 14-17 inches on five different lures. Junk fishing at it's finest. Caught the fifth fish at 7 pm and didn't even stick around to hope for an evening bite. Just went home. Looking forward to the fall bite.
