blitz be sure you get a good one with longest warranty and keep the receipt,, i bought an "american angler cordless with a "slim design blade" with a bonus manual fillet knife for 25 bucks on sale at ganders a couple seasons ago.. it says 40 minute effective running time..but it runs out within 10 minutes.. it gets a dozen perch done in 10 minutes.. i take a break to recharge it but the wait for recharging is long..like 4 hrs for full charge..  had 2 yr warranty but i think it just expired, shoulda coulda ,oh well.  Like all (NIMH) batteries, they have a shelf life and eventually will not hold a charge.

I have the American Angler (not cordless) also, and it has worked great for the last two seasons.  I have never had any other, but this has been great so far.  It got a nice workout this weekend from some nice Lake George perch!!

    The Perchman has spoken...

I think that American Angler should come out with a yellow and green "signature model" for Kevin.  If the man says his knife is a good one for cleaning pannies, we all know he is not kidding around.

He could tell me that he fillets fish with a friggin' windshield scraper and I'd believe him.

American Angler or Mr. Twister! I have a Rapala but it does not have the power of the others and doesn't seem to hold up as well (had to take the first one back) & the 2nd wasn't much better!

Have 12 volt AC/DC American Angler & regular AC & both work well!

I have a rapala filet knife and the batteries have never worn out and I have never had any
problems with it.  I recommend it highly.  Of course, you do have to run the blade across the whetstone once in awhile!

Maybe your batteries never run out because you never catch anything to filet!  Hope your shoulder has recovered so you can snag some salmon up in Pulaski this Spring.

i just picked one up at wally world for $11.00 . for some reason they are really trying to get rid of them. I would have liked the battery one only due to areas not having power.  my only hold up is to target panfish and use the thing because all I can say about Perch's pannies, "oh, it's sooo good"

That's funny- I got the eleven dollar one too...  No way I could pass it up...

I can't help but think that meeting Perch Inc. last year and eating so much of those tasty fish he cooks might have been the worst thing ever to happen to the Capital District panfish population.

I am going to crush those lil' bastards this summer!

Last year I put a few in the fishtank.  This year they are going to be swimming in the Fry Daddy...

Jimmy, you are so hilarious. I have got to find the time to get out and do some fishing on the open water this year. I was also hooked on the Perch Inc. buffet of panfish.

Happy easter morning all, man it is cold outside! I wanted to mention I bought this cordless because it came with a bonus manual knife and both fit in a hardcase for offroad quick field stripping... of coarse no fish cleaning is allowed close to the banks, it is still okay in the nearby woods, etc. I still use my green/yellow corded AAE when or if I'm going to get stuck cleaning alot fish. The cordless battery is only good for a charge that doesn't last long as advertised, in fact i was thinking of putting it on craigs list for a low price of only 9.99 that's right! just 9.99.

My goal this year is to catch a mess of gills or perch while crossing lakes to the brookie ponds. Nothing like some good eats.
