North and South Pier

How has the perch fishing been on either of the Piers lately? I am coming up to Erie on Monday and I was hoping to catch a few perch.

The perching off the piers hasn't been the same since you left Erie. Many reasons I'm sure. Anytime I go, there is few caught by all anglers there. Talking with folks, it seems the great days are few and far between. Thats all perch fishing I'm refering to. On a brighter side, the bass fishing is good as it usually is. Good luck!

Take a ride on the Victory.  28 bucks and includes bait.  The perch fishing in the lake has been awesome to say the least.  Many, Many limits have been taken in the past couple of weeks!

Does anyone know why the perch fishing from the piers has been down? I haven't been to Erie in a while, but I did pretty well last year fishing off of the North Pier and South Piers. I had a few days when I limited out, which isn't bad when you aren't fishing from a boat and following the fish. Recently, due to my location I have been fishing Lake Michigan more often, but the perch fishing is much different. The perch seem to be more abundant, but they are also smaller.

Well I am off to Erie and I will be fishing the Piers and I will take my canoe out in the bay. I will let you guys know how I do. I have two of my rods rigged for perch fishing and two rigged for catching bass in the bay.

Well I am back from fishing in Erie and you are right Mr. Fisherman, the fishing for perch from the Piers was a wash. I only caught 3 perch from the North Pier and 2 from the South in 3 days of fishing. I did however catch many small and largemouth bass from both piers. It seems that the bass are available in better numbers than the past for shore anglers. I also decided to take my canoe out into Thompson's Bay and I had a blast catching pike and bass before the weather turned. Nightcrawlers were the ticket off of the Piers for bass and trolling little cleos was the key for me near Beach 11. I was surprised at how many pike were around, has anybody else been fishing Thompson's Bay lately?
