Perch Unlimited???
Well I think IT's about time that US Fisherman take thing into your hands again!!! For the last few years the perch fishing around here sucks!!!! Too many fisherman and NOT enough PERCH!!!! There has to be a way we can start a Chapter of "PERCH UNLIMITED"!!! Do the same things that Trout/Ducks Unlimited has done for the Great New York Outdoors!!! Just My Thoughts!!!! Jimmy, any Ideas!! Or any one alse???

I think we shall see limitations on most if not all fresh water species considering how bad shape nys economy is getting. We can only hope nys will be using the dditional funds from rising anual license fees to promote better habitate and restocking programs for what is left of our great outdoors. I do not think perch are in danger of extinction but I see no wrong in setting creel limits of a dozen per person. I do not think commercial fishing should be allowed for any freshwater lks in the state with the exception of the great lakes and maybe lk. champlain. 25 Perch is more than enough limit for any one outing imho.

ohh, yeah, i'm totally for a lower limit, even if you catch 25 small ones, thats still a nice meal.
but if we introduce perch to some lakes, these easily overpower a lot of local fish.
but i do agree that pech #s have gone down.

I think the best thing to do would be to encourage people to stop using perch in their Screen Names and Avitar Photos, as this unneeded attention is the primarary cause of the declines in Yellow Perch stock this past season.
Its the same thing everywhere I go laterly:

I live along Lake Erie in Pennsylvania. The perch have exploded here. The state got rid of the gill nets. They put a limit of 20 on them, increased it to 30 a couple of years ago. The perch fishing is better than it's been in the 30 + years I've been on the lake. 20 jumbo perch are all anyone needs. Control the greed and you won't believe what can happen in a couple of years.

Maybe Grand Funk Railroad, Blue Oyster Cult and Bachman-Turner Overdive could all get back together and present a "We Are The Perch" benefit concert for all the abused, forgotten and deep-fried Yellow Perch out there...

LMAO.. maybe we can get some more bands to play for PERCH-AID. I would suggest Country Joe and the Fish, Hot Tuna, Phish or maybe even Steelhead Dan. We can skip Lance Bass though.

Why would you need a Perch-Aid show. Just get those guys from Lake George that got caught with all those perch last year. They don't seem to run out of perch to catch or sell.

I spoke with paterson about your request , we saw eye to eye and he now is proposing anual icefishing perch stamps for a modest fee of just $12.00 more per licensed angler. The additional funds will go towards providing handicap ramps for recreational handicapped boaters and such.

That would work well in northern New Jersey/Rockland County area as the ice lasts much longer down there than up here in the North Country. You could also institute a sucker stamp for those fishermen who like the New Jersey Devils or the New York Rangers.

Ed, Today was sunny to partly cloudy in the low 60s . Yesterday, I seen alot of open shoreline on greenwood along those bubbleup docks, I do not think ice will be as safe along the shoreline for this weekend down here. Me and a friend going to try around monticello area saturday morning on rt. to brothers.This weekend could be the last of icefishing down here imho. I lost interest in hockey when I stopped the bar pooling scene years ago. Did you see that SNL do paterson? I laughed
