New wadeing boots

I'm in the market for new boots i always wore felt, has anyone used  the new rubber sole with the studs. I was talking to the guys a ulitimate angler and they said that simms will no longer make felt by 2010. I just dont want to risk my life on a chance

    I have the Korker guide boots and they are great...interchangeble soles work great...

    The studded rubber soles are better than the felt soles, IMHO.  Buying them would not be a risk of your life.

    Another vote for Korkers. Cant beat the interchangeable soles.

    Thanks for everyons advice, to update this i did end up buying the simms guide boot, i looked at alot of different boots they did not have the korkers in my size so i went with the guide boot also got simms waders and got out of those heavy neo's cant wait for the weather to break so i can go play, again thanks to all and good fishing

    For those korkers, where do you get the other soles?

    Also, are there any reasonably priced (under $100) boots with that new non-felt rubber and studs?  I cant find any.

    the soles you can get when you buy the boots as far as boots under 100 you wont find anything that will last  for that price from what i learned the cheaper boots dont last as long as the better named boot i got simms guide boot and i spent around 200  with the studs

    do a google product search for korkers, or korkers wading boots.

    there's some good deals out there from sierra trading post, troutlet, etc.

    i only say this because you can't find these deals at fish usa......

    I got my soles from cabelas. All in all with the felts and hiking soles that came with them and the studded felts and studded rubber soles that I got I have about 120$ in them. Worth every penny, but buy em 2 sizes too big they run small.

    Nope.  You're looking at +/- $150 for that stuff.

    So the general consensus seems to be to buy Korkers 2 sizes large...I wear an 11 1/2...this may be a problem...

    ...does anyone know if Gander will order them in for you and if so, how long it usually takes?

    Decided to go with the Korkers because of the versatility.  Has anyone used them long enough to give an accurate report on their durability?  If they have em in an appropriate size (I plan on taking my waders with me to try boots on), I'll just get em and order the stud felt and maybe the aquastealth soles seperately, if I have to order them, I'll just order it all at once.

    I asked this ? a few months ago and decided on the Korkers also. I ordered them on line 2 sizes bigger and they are great. I haven't used them much as the ice fishing heated up. You want to talk about speed laces, check them bad boys out on the guides

    I wear a 10 and got size 12 Korkers. Main reason was I tried them on with my waders and the normal sock combo I wear in the wintertime. Gave me a lil wiggle room. I got all the soles the felt and hiking soles came with but if you get another set I would highly recommend the studded ribber soles as the studs are much larger than the studs on the felt, and if you plan on wearing them in the winter no snow to deal with as well. I have been wearing them all this winter ~30 days on em and they are one thing I am glad I spent a few extra bucks on.

    Hmm, thanks for the stud tip.  I think I'll probably fit for boots with just a pair of white cotton socks, though, as that's what I'll be wearing 95% of the time I'm wading.  I'd rather have em snug the few times I hit Erie than loose the few hundred times I hit the Loyalhanna.

    With the costs of shipping anymore Gander will no longer just get something in the store by customer request. As far as I know they stock the boots only.
    It sucks but theres companies out there closing down.
    I would order direct or find someone that stocks the soles.

    I bought the Cabela's Guidewear® Felt Sole Wading Boot two years ago and they are still going strong. I'm starting my third year with them and the felt is wearing out before the studs. If I get another year out of these I'll by another pair of them next year. Best boot I ever owned.

    I just tried out my new pair of Chota Rockloks today. I didnt think I would like a rubber sole, but I decided after fishing the LJ yesterday when it was high, that they grip better than felt.

    Keep in mind that felt soles might be illegal to use in the future if they pass legislation banning them due to the belief of felt transporting diseases, etc.
