Yesterday and today results ...

Saturday 7:30-10:30

Went solo to a nearby place, didn't drill many holes only put in a few hours.
Managed to jig up 8 gills & 1 perch. All dinks. Got very windy in the late morning ... saw tip-up guys out but not many flags.   __________________________________________________________________________________ Today 8:30-Noon with my nephew  We had to get through knee deep snow bank and there was a good 8"-10" of snow sitting on top of 13"-14" of ice !!! Suprised nobody at all was out there yesterday.

So we didn't go that far out and only moved twice. Found 12' - 14' of water and set up.

Managed to jig up 7 Bullhead (never seen a place where you can get so many thorugh the ice) and 6 Perch topped by this little piggy ...

It was the biggest one he ever saw and couldn't believe how good a fight it put up, he was very happy. Measured 13.5" long.

Nice to be out !!!

Nothing wrong with that ! I caught one like that sat.. with two other smaller keepers.. rest were all tiny ones.. I started slamming them and feeding a few hungry gulls .. It made me feel good seeing them gulls in sub freezing temps well fed. Today I caught another one 14" fat like that.. and even more tiny bait sized ones. I came home with three yesterday and two today! lol still greatful! glad it's so close to home these lakes. palisades park is decent only thing is no power augers or alcohol is permitted.

Been told by many - one of the sweetest fish ya can eat...

secret to clean them - make a cut all the way around it just behind the gills - now get an ole board and a good size nail and put it through the center of the head - now grab a set of pliers and pull the skin back....
