Offical thread - L.G. on Sat. 2/7

I'll be picking Wisdom up in Saratoga Springs. I don't have a time yet but looks pretty early and we'll be heading to the Fort Ann Beach in Pilot Knob.

Ooooooooooooooh!  An "Official Thread"!  Holy Smokes!!!

I hear there is some free and easy parking for full-size trucks just offshore on the beach.  Just look for the other trucks and park right next to those guys.  Plenty of room for all!  Just kidding, don't do that Dude!

Sadly, I don't get back from next week's New Orleans trip until mid-afternoon on Saturday.  Bummer!!!

But work is work, and this time of year is tough.

I'd love to get up there and chase lakers, but it looks like it is going to have to wait until later in February. Sigh.

Just came back from Harris bay with 5 others. We all caught double digits, with a few limits. I wasn't very impressed with the size of the fish though. A couple of 12 inchers. Meh, brought home some meat anyway.

When hell freezes over, I'll fish there too.

After hearing numerous reports of quads and sleds on Lake George, I will most likely be heading to Hearthstone VERY early Sun morning for Lakers. Just throwin it out there to anyone. Only looks like me, my father and my nephew right now. Gotta get me a Laker !!!!!

It was pretty tough goin' on the quads Steve. I would suggest putting the chains on if you go. Unless you get on a well worn path. Good luck out there.

    RJ,
That's actually what me and my father were thinking based on all the snow. We're gonna go just off the beach to the left in that cove. He says there is also quite a few perch in that area as well. Let him and my nephews mess with the perch, I am jigging for lakers myself with the set up you showed me. I'll let you know how we make out.

Just a heads up to everyone, Hearthstone campground is only accessible with four wheel drive right now. The main hill is snow covered with a sheet of solid ice underneath. If you make it all the way to the beach at the bottom, you will have to use one of the side roads to get back to the top. My suggestion is to park on top and take a quad or snowmobile to the bottom. However, on a saturday that will prove to be impossible with all of the trucks and trailers. The lake is in rough shape, but there are packed down trails on the ice and there were quads and snowmobiles everywhere Sunday and today. Also, keep in mind that the winter carnival begins this weekend.

I can't go saturday 2/7 dangit.  I did wind up on Lake George today, the area off of Ft Ann Beach in Pilots Knob.  We set up tipups from 80-104' and only had 2½ hrs to fish, from 930-1200. My buddy jigged up a laker in 20' where we were trying for perch. Just under legal though. Couldnt find the fish on vex in the short time we were there. Friggin takes forever to set up when its that deep.  Better luck next time

Yeah, I noticed it was dead also today on Lake George. No flags or action on the jigging rods either. Nobody around us got any flags or fish either. Guess I got my hopes up for better results after something "BIG" snapped my line sunday morning on my jigging rod about 10 feet from the hole in about 70 feet of water. Oh well, i'm still a laker rookie, but am defintely getting better results with just jigging with the #5 pearl. No plans to return until at least friday in search of lakers.
