2009 One Fly Patch Committee

I know some people expressed an interest in helping with "The One Fly" patch for this year's event.  I would like to know who everyone is and some way to get in contact with them.  I apologize if I forget who all expressed an interest, but I was busy trying to wrap somethings up and get the new career kicked off.  Any questions, feel free to pm me.  I should be able to check this at least every couple of days.

You did a great job with it last year. I don't know what help you might need, but don't hesitate to ask if you need something. I'll do whatever I can.

I don't give a crap if anybody listens to me or not.

With the way the event is growing, I will need people to handle various aspects of the patch.  It truly depends on how involved people would like to become.  I basically will need just a few interested parties.  I'm thinking we can discuss ideas and basically come up with a way to keep everyone as involved as possible.

I'm considering having a competition where people can submit their own ideas for the patch and then we vote on it to get the "official" one.  Part of why I will need a little help.  Looking to get some ideas bouncing as well.

My idea TOTALLY had a goby in a fighting pose (kinda like Slickfish's walleye avatar)!  With a line coming out of his mouth, leaping out of the water in a big splash...

Its a long shot but heres an idea if your going to put an image of a fly on it why not make it with the fly that won last years one fly? Or something along those lines maybe the first fly out from last year. Of course if you were going to do that it could also make it part of the prize per the category you make it from. just my 2c

That's a neat idea, though an egg pattern isnt really scenic, if that should happen to win this year...even less so anything that looks like skein...

agreed rap.  That goby definately brought some laughter to the event last time.  Poor DT.  We were THAT close, literally.

That idea about having the previous year's fly as the chosen fly would be interesting.  As to an egg pattern, I would say that there is more that could be on the patch than just the fly.  Keep in mind though, the more colors, the higher the cost.  We had a black/red bugger for last years one.  I'm not sure what took first, but if it was a bugger, we may want to change ideas.

schle, is the idea to stay with a fly pattern?  i actually like the idea, myself.  however, in the future, maybe the patch could show a fly rod and reel.  just an idea.

I was actually looking forward to a picture of Genieman staring up at his fly in a tree.  But that would be too complex.  LOL  Sorry Genie.  Rod reel and fly sound good.

Maybe with the rod bent to suit the curvature of the patch?

Now people see why I wanted to get the ideas out there early on.  I'm actually open to all ideas and thoughts.  Like previously mentioned, I considered having a mini-competition for the design where people could submit whatever they wanted.  My idea was to stick to flies.  However, the fly rod and reel sounds like it could be an interesting design for whoever wanted to try to tame it.  Any other thoughts out there?
