When is the best time to go fishing?

As far as I'm concerned ever chance you get is the time to go fishing, but when are the best times? We know that fish activity is controlled by a number of factors. moon faze, weather, temperature, barometric pressure and so on. I found this site from the Weather Channel. First there is a page that gives an explanation of "How Weather Affects Fish Activity" (http://www.weather.com/activities/recreation/outdoors/fishing/fishingarticle.html?from=fishing_forecast). Then it takes it all and gives you a "Fishing Forecast" (http://www.weather.com/activities/recreation/outdoors/fishing/?from=breadcrumbs) of when the fish are active through out a given day by lake or zip code. I have gone by this and believe it or not it works for the most part. Check it out and see if it helps you.....Tight Lines...Cheers

I still haven't figured it out yet ?!?!

Morning & Dusk usually produce a good bite, but midsummer bassin on hot windy days i have done great !

For ice fishing 1st light (or overall low light conditions) seem better.

From my experience , best time for me is after I had my coffee maybe a big breakfast  and at least one nice dump. After that, it's all a good time!

Wisdom, I think it all depends on what species you are fishing , time of year and basically the weather. Moon /barometer more or less is secondary and weigh on some fisheries more than others. It all comes with experience , the more time on a specific fishery, the more one learns to figure it out. Sometimes the bite is off and I can't figure out why. As with those perch under the ice from one day to the next it is different. I believe the fish are always chasing the bait, once baitfish are located , it gets alot easier.

Just passing on a little info. I came across. You can catch fish anytime under any conditions. knowing these factors can just help that. Try keeping track of what the moon faze is and baromatic pressure and compare to the days your catching and those your not and where your catching (deep, shallow) see if it makes a difference. As you said find the bait fish; did you know the moon fazes have been proven to indicate bait fish activity? Tight Lines....Cheers
