Making plans for December already? Now that's dedication.

When hell freezes over, I'll fish there too.

I agree...   Maybe DECEMBER is a bit far off just yet...  At this rate, I may not even make it to NEXT winter!

So let's focus on JANUARY to begin...   This weekend:  January 24...  The "Hardwater Invitational" version of this past summer's party.  I know it is short notice- but the ice is right, and it's time to get out there.

Perhaps we can still try to plan a gathering for February (or early March) but that all depends on conditions, etc.  Snyders freezes funny- and since we've got solid ice all over right NOW- I say we go for it.

I will be out there all day next to the fire.  Sounds like we might have a half-dozen guys or so.  And maybe even some firewood, which makes it ALL better.   I don't plan on getting out too early I like my sleep on Saturdays (but will have to get over to Flying Arrow or Conroy's at some point before noon)  but if you guys want to be out there are first light, you are welcome to it.  ATVs are fine, snowmobiles, whatever.  Plenty of ice- most of the lake is close to 10" thick.

Parking is tough since the snow shrinks my driveway- but if we double-park folks we can hold five or six trucks without too much trouble.  Get in touch if you need directions, etc.

Sand hey...  What about that dude who caught those catfish in the Hudson this Fall?   He looks like he enjoys fun!   Someone shoot him a note and see if he or some friends wanna' hang on Saturday?

Hope you guys are good!   As for bait:  I would recommend icicles (emerald shiners) for the pannies, and I hope to try some BIGGER baits on the traps this weekend (down deep) to see if the bigger walleye are hiding down there...  Talk to you soon.

Well deal with next December when the time gets a little closer, Jeff...  :)

    Sorry Brian...

After this weekend I am taking the drain plug out of the lake and converting it into a Skate Park.

But you are invited to come over and hit some sweet jumps on your Rollerblades if you want.

Just kidding...  February might happen too...   Who knows...

RJ, it sucked down here too today, wind was howling with freezing temps by midday.. no body was doing much.. I jigged about a dozen with only two worth keeping. Me and friend walked the whole permeter of this local lk.So maybe it is a barometer/moon thing afterall? yesterday eveyone did much better from what was communicated.

today was alittle better, less wind but still ice guide temps. 8 nice size perch still thawing to be filleted. Together we jigged over thirty in a couple hrs but most were too small. What is cool is that it's only 20 minute drive to several clean spring fed lakes with mean depts of 25ft. .Too close to the city populous to post much detail.  Work being so slow and the economy in the Bush, I'm thankful for finally having hardwater so close to home, it's a good ice fishing season so far.

Jimmy thanks for having me... I guess the fish heard you guys were gonna be there and pulled a disappearing act.  Sorry I missed all the action. The fire was nice though.

RJ sorry you were under the weather man. I saw you crashed in your truck when I left... didnt want to stir you and get the chunks flying, ya know.

BACKIN79-   I missed you at Loon Lake, dang you finally made it up and I couldn't go. One of these days....  good luck with your pannies there.

    Fellas,

Thanks for coming out for the day on Saturday.   It sure seemed promising when flags were going off within ten minutes of setting them, but alas, it was not meant to be.

I think the final bodycount was a meager two (2) Smallmouth and one (1) little walleye...

The empty beer cans (mostly mine) outnumbered the fish 10:1...  Whoops...

RJ- hope you bounced back.  I am sure you had a long and tiring weekend, and Snyders can take the last gasp of anyone's breath if you let it :)  I would have set you up with a warm bed inside if I knew you were feeling ill.  I guess I just thought you were trying to sneak in a fireside nap after lunch.  Sorry man!

It was great to see you guys again.   Especially New York Yank- we don't get to see that dude very much.

Interestingly- we even had three guests who we didn't know.  I am still wondering who those people were.  I have a funny feeling that they thought my house was the town beach or something.  But I didn't want to harass them too much, especially with a little kid around.  In my mind- they got a free parking pass for one day.

But from here on out- forget it :)

I wish the fish were more cooperative- it hasn't been a very stellar hardwater season for me thus far, but as usual, there have been JUST enough fish to keep me coming back for more.

This weekend I am surely heading to Lake George or Schroon to shoot for a Laker or a nice Northern.  I will probably go up on Saturday to fish, and then spend Sunday fishing my front yard in the morning and 'pre-gaming' for the Super Bowl.

Anyone thinking of heading up for some Lakers?

You're not supposed to EAT the leftover bait, Dude...  Emerald Shiners will mess you up!!!

I've got to go down to New Jersey for the week- teaching some punks at Rutgers all about Ecology for 3 days...

I will be back Thursday night- and should have wi-fi in the hotel.

Might be tough to catch me on the phone, since I managed to put it through the washing machine on Saturday night...  Unlike Tuna, my beer intake exceeded four...  Easily ...  Too bad my phone had to suffer like that...

For the record- I plan on whooping a 20lb laker and 15lb northern on Saturday...  Before lunchtime, if possible...
