Weekend At The House
Hey Fellas... Things here on the home waters are iced up nice- close to a foot of good hard stuff out the front door now. This ice season is already FAR better than last year, at least in terms of conditions.
The fishing is not exactly setting the world on fire, but its still a fun way to pass a long holiday weekend and still not miss football. The key is to set up your tip-ups in a pattern that is visible from the living room during commercial breaks. I spent the whole weekend planted in front of the fire by the lake. Even caught a few fish. I kept a few perch and a walleye for Suzi to cook up. I thought maybe I liked to eat fish. Turns out I don't.
Weather was nice on Monday for some ice-fishin' and sharing a few beers with the dog:
It snowed now and then, of course:
Got a few smallmouth over the weekend, then shifted my traps to some new areas and let loose the icicles to entice some dinner for my guest.
Turns out there are still a few perch in here- even after Kevin's visit in August:
The lady wanted some fish for dinner. And dinner she got.
I opted for a big ol' Ribeye that I had been saving for awhile. I assume I will stay local for the next few weekends and keep drilling holes in my front yard. What do you guys think about a winter version of the "Snyders Lake Invitational" at the end of February if the conditions hold up?
Grill up some food, soak some bait and watch our beers freeze for a few hours?
