Switching from 5600 to Clam Guide

I am thinking about selling my Clam 5600 that i bought last year and buying a Clam Guide.  I was curious to know what everyone thought about the Guide.

As far as the guide, it is great for  2 holes, one or 2 people.  I like it for moving around alot with just me.  Or tending tip ups with one hole each with my son.  For comfort on a pan fish spot,  i like my 5600.  4 holes and can get out easy for tip ups. That is my 2 cents.

I have one and love it! A little heavy for one person to pull through snow, but makes up for it with space, comfort and area to fish!

The only problem I had with mine is that back stripping that holds the fabric down to the plastic. It kept coming off so I just rigged it some other way!

    Very nice buy!

mike, the guide should come with 3/8" pan head pointed screws to go through the strip, tent, sled, and back out the strip on the bottom.  Some guys use paper clamps ( the black spring steel with the chrome handles) and pop the handles off.

Ha...I just replied to your other post...I had a 5600 that I replaced with the Frabill...waaaaaay nicer than that beast!  I had it for 2 years and never once dragged it out by myself.  When it came time to load the car...if I was going alone, I would rather get cold and cut my day short than lug that thing along...then I borrowed my buddy's guide while he was sick and I was sold!

that darn 5600 is nice to fish out of, but your right it truely is a beast to pull especially in any snow.  I might make a sled out of conduit for it of noone is interesting in buying it.

Worlds better than the 5600 - thats for sure!  Guide is the smallest I would go.  I don't carry a TON of stuff along - but even with what i got,  a Scout would be too small.

Hey Gus, i own a 5600 and agree they stink to pull , so i made a sled with old ski's. took me 25min to build. now the 5600 pulls with ease.

I have a used Clam 5600 I'm looking to sell as well. I'm asking $150 for it but will take best offer. It's got a tear or 2 but still does the job quite well.

Email me at adam.freeborough@gmail.com if interested. I live in Girard.
